Casa Bahia
- Miami, FL
Service type
Casa Bahia was designed to feel permeable rather than imposing. The entry sequence moves through a breeze block corridor into a central courtyard, creating a layered arrival, rather than a singular front door experience.
The home was intentionally broken down to avoid visual bulk on its 10,000-square-foot lot. By carving out breezeways and shaded transitions, the architecture encourages cross-ventilation—critical in South Florida’s climate.
Terrazzo floors and flagstone surfaces introduce tactile durability, while oak interiors soften the palette. Natural stone and breeze blocks reference regional mid-century language without feeling outdated. The landscape design allows plantings to cascade along façade edges, blurring boundaries between built form and environment.
